Boom! We’re back with another amazing stop-frame by Italian street artist Blu. If you’re a regular reader of the blog here on Springleap, you’d know that we featured his ‘Big Bang Big Boom’ not so long ago. That amazing escapade into the surreal world of stop-frame animation that features repurposed trash and paint overlay is a wild ride all its own. Today though, we head in a different direction with Muto by Blu. Which direction? Into the weird! It’s true - ‘Muto’, unlike ‘Big Bang Big Boom’, doesn’t necessarily have a plot or storyline with a moral to share. ‘Muto’ is more or less the crazy journey of Blu characters which morph and transform as they travel along walls, under bricks, through yards and indoors. We’re not sure whether the title ‘Muto’ refers to change (as in ‘mutate’) or possibly the Italian for silent, ie: ‘muto’. It could go either way, as the characters don’t speak and sure as nuts do a lot of mutating. Silent mutation, maybe? Blu knows, but he’s not telling - and you couldn’t ask him either, as he keeps his real identity pretty well hidden. Blu’s skill at giving body parts a life of their own takes flight here in a big way - from the hands that emerge from a dislodged brick in a wall to molar teeth that take off, walking on their roots and on to men whose heads open to reveal more heads, this is one weird but entirely entertaining trip through the Bluniverse.
