The story of first mate Swabbem harkens back to the legend of the lost ship 'High Elloise'. Myth has it the underling to Capt Beardless, whose crew set forth to secure passage of Sedgwick's Old Brown to new coasts, escaped the historical dubious shipwreck. He is said to have drifted to the South seas with what remained as the precious bottled cargo thought to be lost. It is believed he had amassed his own crew only to captain ships under a false name to stay close to the drink that kept him warm for weeks adrift upon the brutal sea.
